Unimax changes name, reflecting 'enhanced product offering'

BOUCHERVILLE, Quebec — Unimax Tire Ltd. has changed its name to Unimax Ltd., and all retail banners will be operated and managed under Point S Canada.

The name change, which was completed earlier last month, reflects the company's enhanced product offering for its dealers, according to Unimax.

More than 860 stores under the Point S, Point S City, V1, Otobox, Prestige Tire, Megapneu and Max Plus Tires banners will receive exclusive merchandising and differentiate themselves in the market.

Bruno Leclair, president and CEO of Unimax & Point S Canada, called it "great news for our network dealers. They'll get many retail-related benefits that will have an impact in their region."

Unimax's Point S and VI, Canada's largest network of independent retailers, are one-stop shops, the company said, offering a host of automotive products and services.

"It's important that we diversify our offerings to meet the needs of our dealers as well as our customers," Mr. Leclair said. "Our new name simply signals that we're evolving with the current market."

Unimax, which was founded more than 40 years ago, is one of the largest tire distribution networks in Canada. It serves Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and the four Atlantic provinces.
