LISBON, Portugal — More than 300 tire retailers and suppliers attended the Point S Canada/Unimax Tire Ltd. annual convention, Sept. 12-15, in Lisbon to celebrate Unimax's 40th anniversary.
The event included special activities, upscale dinners and an awards program.
"It was unanimous: The convention was an all-round success. We achieved our main objective, which was to treat our retailers and partners to the premium Point S experience," said Bruno Leclair, president and CEO of Point S Canada/Unimax Tire.
Unimax distributes tires in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and the Atlantic provinces and operates more than 75 tire distribution warehouses with its partners.
In addition to Point S, Boucherville, Quebec-based Unimax operates six other retail tire marketing programs in Canada — Pneus Max-Plus, Mega Pneu, Pneus Prestige, Otobox and V1 — accounting for more than 850 points of sale.
During the convention, the company honored several partners, including:
- Garage Auto Satisfaction for its involvement in Point S and "always follow(ing) closely the Point S programs with our official network suppliers," the company said;
- Les Pneus Beaucerons for overcoming the biggest challenge in 2019. "Last spring, the store was completely flooded with heavy showers and melting snow. After two weeks, they opened their renovated store to welcome clients in their spring rush," the company said; and
- René Doré, a territory sales manager for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., who won the President's Choice award for keeping a positive attitude when things got tough. "René faced cancer three times, always with a smile. He is now healed. He was such an inspiration for all of us," the company said.
The Point S network has more than 4,200 tire and auto service outlets in 36 countries, including more than 225 retail locations in Canada and about 220 locations in the U.S.
