MIAMI — Tire Group International L.L.C. is adding a pair of all-season/all-weather crossover/sport-utility vehicle tire lines to its Cosmo brand and tripling the size range of its El Jefe HT premium CUV/SUV tire.
The new product lines are the all-season/all-weather El Tigre AT and the all-season TigerTail.
TGI launched the Cosmo brand on a broad basis to U.S. customers in early 2019 after having the brand in its international portfolio since 1994.
The Cosmo El Jefe HT is a premium CUV/SUV tire designed to deliver a smooth ride without sacrificing cornering or stopping performance. Launched originally a year ago with five sizes, it's available now in 15 SKUs covering 15- to 20-inch rim diameters and is backed with a free road-hazard warranty and a 55,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.
TGI said the expanded coverage is tied to a switch in the contracted manufacturer in Thailand.
The El Tigre AT is a premium light truck/CUV/SUV tire built to excel on wet and dry roads as well as provide all-terrain grip when needed, TGI said, and exhibits comfort and low noise characteristics as well. It's available in 22 SKUs covering 15- to 20-inch rim diameters and carries the industry's three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol for winter traction properties. It is backed by a 55,000-mile limited treadwear warranty.
The TigerTail is a European-inspired high-performance touring tire for SUVs and CUVs engineered to deliver high speed stability and "precise" handling in both wet and dry conditions. It's offered in nine SKUs covering 16- to 22-inch rim diameters and V, W and Y speed ratings. It's backed by free road-hazard warranty coverage.
All three lines feature a range of proprietary design elements, TGI said, including Bead Reinforcement System (BRS), New Structure Technology (NST), Directed Super Silica (DSS) compounding and Optimum Performance Design (OPD).
TGI launched Cosmo in 1994 initially as a bias-ply light truck tire brand marketed predominantly to Latin American/Caribbean customers. TGI through the years added radial passenger, light truck, medium truck, etc. lines.
