FAIRFAX, Va. — American Tire Distributors (ATD) snagged a pair of "Stevie Awards" honors recently that recognize ATD's efforts in employee relations.
The honors — a Gold Award in the Employer of the Year, automotive and transport equipment category, and a Bronze Award in the Achievement in Workplace Health and Wellbeing category — were presented by Stevie Awards Inc., a nonprofit established in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals worldwide.
The awards program recognizes the world's best employers and the people, products and suppliers that help to create and drive great places to work.
"This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in our organization and our industry," Rebecca Sinclair, ATD's chief people and corporate affairs officer, said.
"We will continue to strive for excellence as we remain focused on delivering exceptional value to our customers while keeping our associates front and center of our culture."
ATD said it was was recognized "for its comprehensive and thoughtful approach to employee relations, talent development, and workplace culture."
The Huntersville-based company has implemented programs and initiatives to engage and support associates, including continuous learning and recognition platforms and a focus on associate well-being. ATD also has made efforts to bring its "connected culture" to life while upskilling the entire workforce, the company said.
This year's Stevie Awards program received more than 1,000 submissions from organizations of all sizes for consideration in a range of HR-related categories. Industry professionals participated in the judging process to select winners.
The name Stevie is taken from the name Stephen, which is derived from the Greek for "crowned."

ATD has picked up a number of recognitions in 2023, including:
- Charlotte's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For;
- a Silver Stevie award winner for Automotive & Transport Equipment (Large) Company of the Year;

- one of the nation's Summer 2023 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR); and
- an Environment+Energy Leader Award winner.
