MIAMI — The second-generation leadership of tire distributor Tire Group International (TGI) were honored recently with the unveiling of the "Gonzalez Family Athletic Facility" at their alma mater, Christopher Columbus High School (CCHS) in Miami.
Brothers Tony Gonzalez, CEO, and Joaquin Gonzalez, president, played a pivotal role in designing and equipping the facility at CCHS to ensure it meets the highest standards to support the development of young athletes, according to the school.
The Gonzalez brothers consistently have supported their alma mater, culminating in a contribution that enabled a major renovation and upgrade of the school's athletic facilities.
"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Tony and Joaquin Gonzalez for their generous support," CCHS President Thomas Kruczek said. "Their contribution has helped us create a first-class athletic training space with the resources and inspiration that will enable our students-athletes to continue to achieve greatness."
The Gonzalezes founded Miami-based TGI in 1992 as a distributor of passenger/light truck, industrial, agriculture and off-road tires.
"It is both a blessing and a privilege to give back to Christopher Columbus High School, an institution that has profoundly shaped both my brother Joaquin and me. Athletics played a crucial role in our development, teaching us discipline and teamwork. We hope this new facility will help nurture the same qualities in future Columbus students," Tony Gonzalez said.
Joaquin Gonzalez played five years in the NFL as an offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts after starring at the University of Miami in 1998-2001.
