Combat the flat: self-sealing tires are here
There’s nothing worse than being on a road trip and having your “low air pressure” warning light pop up on your dashboard, sending the alert that you have a flat tire. Well, thanks to Hankook Tire’s SEALGUARD® technology, a punctured tire doesn’t always have to equate to a flat tire.
Hankook Tire’s SEALGUARD® tires use self-sealing technology to temporarily repair punctured tires, bringing added safety and reliability to drivers. So, how does it work?
Containing a tacky, viscous material coated inside from shoulder to shoulder, SEALGUARD® tires can immediately seal punctures up to 5mm in diameter caused by nails and other objects, reducing the need for emergency tire-changes.
While SEALGUARD® technology does not guarantee permanent repair of the tire, the tire can maintain consistent air pressure even if the puncturing object has become dislodged. Hankook Tire recommends that drivers with SEALGUARD® tires regularly check their tires to inspect sealed punctures or the presence of other damage.
By helping to reduce the hazards of emergency curbside tire changes, SEALGUARD® tires can help to provide added safety and peace of mind to drivers.
Hankook Tire SEALGUARD® technology is currently available in the Ventus S1 noble 2 pattern in sizes 255/40R20 and 285/35R20.
