New aftermarket products unveiled at 2024 AAPEX, SEMA
Snap-on Inc.'s Mitchell 1 business introduced enhancements to its automotive repair information, shop management and marketing services during AAPEX 2024 to help auto repair shops run more efficiently.
Enhancements to ProDemand repair information software include:
- Increased coverage to 98% of electric and hybrid vehicles with access to the most up-to-date OEM repair information.
- Improved VIN resolution capabilities for more precise vehicle-specific information searches to enable faster identification of needed parts, labor estimates or repair procedures.
- Enhanced bookmarking allows users to save their progress and return to where they left off on shared accounts. Additionally, each vehicle/search term event is saved, allowing technicians to return to a specific task.
Enhancements to the Manager SE 9.1 shop management program include:
- Job View, which enables a shop to group repair and diagnostics work "by the job," resulting in organized estimates and invoices. The new feature allows shops to group related labor tasks and parts together through job containers, both on screen and resulting estimates and invoices, the company said. It also allows shops to check profit by each job, create canned jobs and identify deferred work.
- Customizable screens/user preferences to support workspace personalization. Users can customize background color, including dark mode, select colors for each line-item type, choose font types and sizes with a bold text option, columns layout and display settings for a more intuitive experience.
The SocialCRM+LocalSearch marketing software now includes:
- New website themes to help shops improve their online presence, attract new customer traffic and convey their brand stories. They include modernized visuals and features to help shops expand their marketing opportunities to attract more customers, the company said. The LocalSearch design themes give shops the power to improve their websites and social media activities.
- The Google Optimization Suite, available exclusively through Mitchell 1's SocialCRM+LocalSearch services, enables shops to leverage customer review management tools to enhance their shop's online visibility and grow their business, the company said, simplifying online and digital marketing processes.
Continental Automotive Technologies has introduced what it claims is the first brake fluid engineered with renewable, raw materials.
The ATE SecuBrake brake fluid meets the legal requirements for a DOT 4 fluid without containing boric acid esters, the company said, noting the formulation is safer to manufacture and use, while still meeting key performance requirements.
Manufactured in Germany using a certified process with renewable, raw materials, ATE SecuBrake requires no special handling or storage and is free of hazardous materials that are subject to labeling requirements, Conti said. The brake fluid is available in a 5-liter container.
Brembo North America has introduced additions to its portfolio of braking products, including the debut of its Carbon Ceramic Material (CCM) brake disc and pads as an aftermarket part.
The CCM brake, originally developed for racing, offers 50% weight reduction when compared with traditional cast iron discs and features stronger braking with less fade, along with durability and corrosion resistance, the company said.
Brembo also added the performance-focused Brembo Sport TY3 disc to the Xtra portfolio, providing a plug-and-play upgrade to OEM braking systems, the company said.
The company also added new sedan-compatible Brembo Beyond Greenance kits.
Brembo's five categories of products, available on the new Bremboparts app, include:
- Brembo Essential, which includes braking fluids and lubricants;
- Brembo Prime, which includes OE-equivalent pads and rotors;
- Brembo Beyond, that offers EV kits and Greenance Euro 7-emission-compliant braking products;
- Brembo Xtra, that offers performance braking pads, rotors and calipers; and
- Brembo Upgrade, that includes high-performance, track-capable braking products.
Mevotech has introduced its TTX Brakes for commercial vehicles, featuring five customized formulations.
The formulations include: Premium Ceramic for general purpose working vehicles; Ceraphite for "last mile" applications for vans and trucks; Premium Met for severe driving conditions; Supermet for off-road and extreme-duty vehicles; and Pursuit Certified for police and other pursuit applications.
The TTX Brake pads come with an installation kit that includes caliper mounting hardware. The products will be available in early 2025.
Autel U.S. Inc. debuted two products that won recognition in the AAPEX New Product Showcase: the Autel MaxiSys IA700 Advanced Modular ADAS won the Safety & ADAS category, while the Autel MaxiSys MS906MAX Diagnostic Tablet won in the Tools & Equipment category.
The IA700 frame with robotic crossbar features six high-resolution positioning and tracking cameras, enabling target positioning and prompting unlevel floor compensation.
The Autel IA700 compatibility with the MA600 and IA900 targets, patterns and calibration components allows existing MA600 users access to a mobile system. IA900 users purchasing an IA700 can double calibration capacity without purchasing additional targets, the company said.
The frame can be disassembled for transport or storage.
The system requires any MaxiSYS 909, 919 or Ultra tablet and an ADAS calibration software upgrade card for static and dynamic ADAS calibration coverage for most U.S., Asian, and European ADAS-equipped vehicles.
The system comes with a one-year limited warranty.
The MaxiSYS 906MAX is a 10.1-inch Android-based wireless diagnostics and service tablet with coverage for U.S., Asian and European vehicles, 1996 and newer.
The tablet can be used to perform pre- and post-scans, all-systems diagnostics including reading and erasing codes, viewing and graphing Live Data, and performing bi-directional tests and services including Active Tests and Special Functions.
The tablet features vehicle-specific, direct-to-system service and maintenance tasks; can execute 40 service tasks including oil light reset, DPF regen, steering angle sensor reset, airbag reset, occupancy seat reset and brake bleed; provide customizable reports via email and text; and support direct battery, starter and charging system testing.
The tablet includes one year of free software updates and is covered by one-year limited warranty.
Tekmetric has released its Tekmetric Mobile App to enable technicians to complete photo-rich inspections, maintain consistency and foster revenue growth.
Technicians can add photos or videos to digital vehicle inspections (DVIs) and provide detailed findings to educate customers on the state of their vehicles.
They can also mark up images, spotlighting problems with arrows, shapes or text directly on the image, the company said.
The app is designed to integrate directly with Tekmetric's desktop platform, so all images and notes are accessible to service advisors as soon as they are uploaded.
The app is available for iOS and Android devices.
AMSOIL Inc. has introduced the AMSOIL Signature Series Ultra-Low Viscosity 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid and the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-85 Extreme-Pressure Gear Lube for severe-duty applications.
The transmission fluid is designed specifically for transmissions requiring Ford Mercon ULV and GM Dexron ULV specifications.
The fluid is formulated with friction modifiers to extend equipment life and remains fluid in sub-zero temperatures.
The gear lube is engineered for severe-duty applications that face towing, hauling, steep-hill driving, plowing and racing.
The gear lube maintains its viscosity and protects against metal-to-metal contact, the company said, noting a proprietary blend of additives form a barrier coating on gear surfaces to defend against wear, pitting and scoring. It resists breakdown from high heat and delivers protection in both hot and cold temperature extremes.
