ST. LOUIS — Hunter Engineering Co. has released a new mobile bench version of its BL Series bench lathe, which allows technicians to move the lathe around the shop for more convenience.
The BL Mobile Bench with chip funnel has the same sturdy steel construction of the BL Series and has several other benefits, Hunter said. Those include: large, locking casters for quick relocation; a push handle for an easy grab point; and three large heavy-duty drawers with rubber floor liners giving ample space for weighty adaptors.
The unit is compatible with Hunter's dust collection system. It includes onboard storage of documents and a chip bucket, as well as an integrated cord wrap that holds the power cord.
The carefully balanced design makes it difficult to tip the lathe over, Hunter said.
"Not only will the mobility make the lathe more convenient to use, but easier to clean under and behind it," Greg Meyer, Hunter product manager for brake lathes, said. "Keeping the adaptors safely stored in the drawers also keeps them away from dust."
Hunter's BL Series bench lathe is a combination bench lathe that offers speed, precision and versatility for brake service. The design allows the technician to change the setup of the brake lathe from rotors to drums and vice-versa quickly and easily, Hunter said.
