BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is adding three Certified Tire Service Instructor classes to the 2021 calendar as the trade group continues to resume in-person training.

The 400-level classes are Aug. 17-20 in Baltimore, Oct. 12-15 in Louisville, Ky., and Dec. 7-10 in Tampa, Fla.

"Nothing can replace the interaction between the instructor and students that takes place when everyone is in the same room. While the class size is limited, we are confident that we can safely provide the same level of training that the industry expects from TIA," said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training.

Each four-day course covers all aspects of medium/heavy truck tire service and also teaches students how to instruct a 300-Level Certified Technician Course in the field, TIA said.

There are 18 learning modules covering topics such as rims, wheels, hubs and regulations.

There is an optional early session during the first day for students with less than two years of experience servicing trucks. During that time, students will mount and demount a tire and install and remove a wheel assembly using impact and torque wrenches.

Tuition is $950 and does not include lodging. There is no extra charge for the early session.

The Baltimore class is being held at the Embassy Suites BWI in Linthicum Heights, Md.; the Tampa class will be held at Holiday Inn Brooksville West in Brooksville, Fla. TIA did not disclose the site for the Louisville meeting.

More information and registration is available at tireindustry.org or by contacting Christine Hoogenboom at [email protected] or 800-876-8372, extension 106.
