SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The TechForce Foundation is accepting nominations through Jan. 14 for its revamped Techs Rock Awards, honoring both working and aspiring technicians.
This year, TechForce, in partnership with Mecum Auctions Co., will recognize outstanding student and professional technicians in five categories: automotive and motorsports; diesel; collision, restoration and welding; aviation, motorcycle and marine; and evolving technologies.
Two winners, one a working tech and the other an aspiring tech, will receive an all-inclusive trip to Mecum in Glendale, Ariz., which includes round-trip flights and two nights stay, as well as dinner with top industry leaders at TechForce's National Partners Summit.
According to the rules, nominees must display passion and hard work for becoming a future professional technician. They must show "exemplary character, be making a positive impact in their school and/or community and have concrete examples of how they exceed expectations in their technical education program."
Nominations close Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. EST.
Nominees must be 18 years or older to enter; must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident or have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status with proof of current Employment Authorization Document; and must be at least a current, active student, enrolled in a transportation technology curriculum.
Category winners will be judged by VIPs. A public vote will be held for overall winners. Winners will be announced March 7th at Mecum Glendale and TechForce Partner Summit.
