LOS ANGELES — RepairSmith, with the backing of Daimler A.G., has launched its mobile car repair service in the greater Los Angeles and San Francisco markets.
RepairSmith, founded in 2018, offers car repair and maintenance service, along with online pricing and scheduling, with a choice of service locations: At home, at work or at a service shop.
"Daimler is committed to delivering innovative mobility services and leading the technology transformation of our industry," said Andreas Joerg, director of remanufacturing and value parts and service for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. "The team at RepairSmith is taking a long-view of the changing customer expectations and technology requirements in the car repair industry and designing solutions to improve the car ownership experience."
Los Angeles-based RepairSmith services are available for all vehicle types, not just vehicles manufactured by Daimler, the company said, adding that it will expand its service offerings to other major metropolitan areas throughout 2019 and 2020.
"Car owners are frustrated by the inconvenience and lack of transparency of the traditional experience," RepairSmith CEO Joel Milne said. "We are delivering more than a service; We are delivering an entirely new way to repair and maintain your car by providing a trusted online pricing and booking platform while meeting the needs of car owners directly where they need it."
Using RepairSmith's at-home delivery service, RS Delivery, a certified RepairSmith mechanic arrives in a company vehicle, equipped with the tools and parts to complete the vast majority of work a vehicle may need. If more sophisticated tools are required to get the job done, RepairSmith said it will take the customer's vehicle to a RepairSmith certified shop to complete the repair and return it when the job is done.
If a car owner prefers to drive his/her vehicle in for service, RepairSmith's RS Drop Off service allows the customer to drop their vehicle off at a certified RepairSmith shop.
All repairs are backed by a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty, said the company, which currently has 10 vehicles with more on order.
