SAN DIEGO — RepairSmith Inc., which launched its mobile car repair and maintenance service in August in Los Angeles and San Francisco, is expanding into the San Diego and Orange County markets.
RepairSmith, backed by Daimler A.G., was founded in 2018 and offers car repair and maintenance services, along with online pricing and scheduling, with a choice of service locations: At home, at work or at a service shop.
RepairSmith said its services are available for car owners in all cities throughout the San Diego metro area, including Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Coronado, Del Mar, El Cajon, Encinitas, Escondido, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Oceanside, Poway, San Marcos, Santee, Solana Beach and Vista.
Along with the rollout in San Diego, RepairSmith is launching in Orange County, covering all of southern California's major metropolitan areas.
The company's RS Delivery operates custom-built repair vans, outfitted with tools and equipment to handle about 85% of vehicle repairs a car may need – in a driveway or parking lot.
If more sophisticated tools are required to get the job done, RepairSmith will take the customer's vehicle to a certified RepairSmith shop to complete the repair and return it when the job is done.
If a car owner prefers to drive his/her own car in for service, RepairSmith's RS Drop Off service allows the customer to drop the vehicle off at a certified RepairSmith shop.
RepairSmith services are available for all vehicle types, not just vehicles manufactured by Daimler. All repairs are backed by a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty, the company said.
"People have been repairing their cars the same way for more than 50 years. The traditional experience is time consuming and lacks transparency. RepairSmith is changing that by offering online scheduling, upfront pricing and a choice of service location," CEO Joel Milne said. "We designed RepairSmith to fit the busy lifestyles of car owners by providing the ultimate experience in convenience."
The company said it plans to open in other major metropolitan areas in 2020.
