Some 2009 Murano models with cruise control systems may illuminate the Check Engine light and log trouble code P1421 (Cold Start Control) in computer memory.
If there are no drivability symptoms associated with the code it could be bogus, says Nissan, and the result of software issues within the PCM. Having the module reprogrammed with updated calibration files may help eliminate the concern.
To find out for sure, connect a scan tool to the DLC and look up the part number of the current PCM in the vehicle. If it matches one of the part numbers listed below, go ahead and have the module updated with the new software. If the part number of the current PCM doesn't match the part numbers listed, this information doesn't apply.
Continue troubleshooting until the cause is found and rectified.
