Some 2007 LS460 and LS460L models may produce an irritating clicking noise from the front or rear when applying the brake pedal while traveling slowly in reverse, or while changing direction from drive to reverse.
Lexus attributes the noise to the design of the disc brake pad backing plates, which cause momentary sticking of the pads in the caliper supports as the wheels rotate counterclockwise. The fix depends on the option package and wheel size of the vehicle in your bay.
For LS460 and LS460L models with standard 18-inch wheels, replace the front and rear brake pads with updated designs (part #04465-50260 and part #04466-50130, respectively), using a liberal application of a newly formulated disc brake grease (part #08887-80609).
LS460L models with a Touring Package and 19-inch wheels already have the updated brake pads installed. For these vehicles, just remove the pads and apply the new brake grease to the backing plates.
