TWG to release Amp Terrain Attack R/T in 2024

LAS VEGAS — The Wheel Group (TWG) is planning to launch a rugged-terrain light truck tire, the Amp Terrain Attack R/T, designed to deliver both off-road performance and highway comfort.

The new tire, set to launch in early 2024, features dual sidewalls for customer personalization.

The Amp Terrain Attack R/T is "engineered to conquer the toughest terrains with ease, delivering exceptional performance and durability, without compromising on-road comfort," TWG said.

"Our customer base is looking for more capabilities than those extreme all-terrains, but they do want on road comfort. They don't want to hear the tire," a TWG spokesman told Tire Business at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on Nov. 2.

The tread is designed to achieve off-road traction (with features like stone ejectors), all-season performance (large open-shoulder blocks) and to be durable (sidewall puncture-protection). The company describes the AMP pattern as a hybrid that while aggressive for off-road also utilizes a wide center contact path and variable pitch to give the tire a better footprint — and more comfortable highway ride.

"The Attack R/T, obviously, it's going to have a really aggressive tread pattern, but it was designed with versatility in mind," the TWG spokesman said. "It's going to perform excellent in all kinds of off-road conditions — very close to mud-terrain performance. But because you have the high-contact center patch and the variable-pitch tread pattern ... that's going to give it quite ride."

The Attack R/T features two sidewall designs — one more aggressive looking than the other. The idea, TWG said, is to give customers the option to "personalize" their vehicle.

While they look different, TWG said the sidewall are equal in abrasion resistance and will perform the same no matter which side is displayed.

The Amp R/T will launch this coming spring in 16 sizes covering rim diameters of 17, 20, 22 and 24 inches and load ranges C, E and F. It will be backed by a 50,000-mile tread life warranty.

TWG has not announced whether the Attack R/T will come with the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake for winter and snow performance but was optimistic it would.

"We're still testing it, so it's not official, but we're expecting within a month or so we're going have that certification," the spokesperson said.

TWG, based in Ontario, Calif., is an aftermarket wheel, tire and automotive accessory supplier that goes to market with 16 brands, including Amp tire, through 20 sales and distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada.

Wheel brands include Cal, American Truxx, Mayhen, Ion Ridler, Kraze Ltd. and Body Armor.
