SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas — The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) will kick off its 2020 Battle of the Builders Regional Competition March 7-8 at the Heat Wave Spring Break Jam on South Padre Island, the association said.
Now in its fourth year, the Young Guns Competition is open to anyone aged 27 or younger as of Nov. 6, 2020. The contest is for young auto technicians who build their vehicles primarily on their own, SEMA said.
SEMA will select 10 vehicles from entrants for the South Padre Island competition, it said. Professional judges will choose one winner, and its makers will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas for the 2020 SEMA Show Nov. 3-6 and entry into the SEMA Battle of the Builders competition.
The second- and third-place vehicles will have an opportunity to be invited to the SEMA Show at the end of the regional qualifier events in a nationwide fan vote, the association said.
