Mickey Thompson, Cooper sweep SEMA Best New Products Awards

LAS VEGAS — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. swept the Best New Products Awards in the tire categories at the 2021 SEMA Show with a pair of Mickey Thompson-branded products and one Cooper-branded tire.

Cooper's Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP ultra-terrain tire was judged the best new product, while its ET Street Front drag racing tire was a runner-up along with the Cooper Discoverer Snow Claw winter tire.

The awards are given to the most "innovative and cutting-edge" automotive aftermarket products that will be consumable in 2022, according to the Specialty Equpment Market Association (SEMA), which sponsors the competition during the SEMA Show.

In the Wheel and Related Product category, Litespeed Racing was judged the winner for its Carbon One monoblock carbon-fiber wheel. Litespeed Racing is a Westminster, Calif., wheel maker specializing in carbon-fiber wheels.

Runners-up were: Guniwheel Inc. for its GuniSpare system of space-saving spare tires with universal bolt pattens; and Warn Industries Inc. for its Diamond Cutter Wheel series for Jeep Wrangler JK, JL, and JT fitments

SEMA's annual New Product Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements in the development of products being introduced to the automotive specialty-equipment market at the SEMA Show. Products are judged in 16 award categories, and each category has one winner and two runners-up.

More than 1,300 products were entered into the 16 different showcase categories to be considered for a SEMA New Product Awards this year. Winners were selected based on a variety of factors that included superiority of innovation, technical achievement, quality and workmanship, consumer appeal and marketability and more.
