TRMG updates buffing textures for retread, repair

    FALLS CHURCH, Va. — The Tread Rubber and Tire Repair Materials Manufacturers Group (TRMG) has published new recommended practices for tire retread and repair buffing textures.

    TRMG also released a new Buff Textures sheet with six molded examples.

    "TRMG is proud to release the updated industry-approved Buff Texture tool. Our members have many years of retread/repair experience which has helped us update a very important standard in our industry, and we are excited to get this tool into the hands of the retreading industry we serve," Adam Tillery, TRMG chairman, said.

    The new recommended practices for buffing and rubber texturization references the latest processes used in the retread and repair industry, the organization said. The document may be obtained through the websites of either the Tire Retread and Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) or Tire Industry Association (TIA).

    BTS6 features the six industry-approved textures that are used for various tire retread and repair applications.

    New Texture sheet

    TRMG also released a new buff texture sheet. Known as BTS6, the TRMG IRP Buff Textures Sheet features the six industry-approved textures that are used for various tire retread and repair applications, according to the organization.

    "This important tool assists retread technicians around the world in crafting quality retreaded tires," TRMG said.

    Manufactured by TECH International, a TRMG member company, the sheet is available for purchase for $30 through TRIB's online store at www.retread.org/online-store-1.
