LIMA, Peru — Peruvian retreader Renova SAC is expanding its capacity to retread large OTR tires with the installation of a second tire-building unit at its plant in Lima capable of handling tires up to 63 inches in rim diameter.
Renova, considered an industry leader in retreading large OTR tires, will pair this machine with a similar one at the Lima site, in operation since 2008, according to Marangoni Group's Tyre Retreading Machinery (TRM) unit, which supplied the piece of equipment, the "Super Eagle OTR 63."
Renova said it retreads more than 300 tires months at its two factories, in Peru and Chile, for use in South American mines.
TRM calls the Super Eagle the the largest multi-tool machine for retreading in the world, combining peeling, buffing and grooving.
The Super Eagle recently passed acceptance tests by Renova staff at TRM's factory in Trento.
The 50-ton machine is a working gantry with two columns weighing 15 tons each, according to TRM. The machine is more than six meters high.
According to TRM, Renova — which goes to market under the proprietary "XT Xtratread" brand — is the first company in the world to retread size 53/80R63 (in 2006) and 59/80R63 (in 2010).
TRM specializes in the design and manufacture of advanced systems for retreading passenger, truck, OTR and aircraft tires.
The companies did not disclose the value of builder.
