GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin North America Inc. and Techno Pneu Inc. have reached a settlement agreement over intellectual property rights protecting the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire tread design, Michelin announced Feb. 27.
Michelin filed suit Dec. 13 in the North District of New York, (Michelin v. Techno Pneu Inc., case no. 6:23-cv-1568-AMN-TWD) alleging that Quebec-based retreader Techno Pneu's Explorer ATW tire infringed on a design patent protecting Michelin's tire tread design.
Michelin said it was "pleased with reaching a favorable settlement with Techno Pneu."
The companies agreed to not disclose financial or other terms of the agreement, Michelin said.
Techno Pneu declined to comment on the settlement.
"The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire and its legacy represent the achievement of many years of technical development in the Michelin organization," Harold Phillips, global general manager of the BFGoodrich brand, said. "Michelin will actively defend its products, and we will continue to protect our intellectual property rights."
