GREENVILLE, S.C. — The latest addition to Michelin North America Inc.'s retread portfolio, the X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold, is its lowest rolling resistance, heavy-truck drive-axle retread to date, the company claims.
The new product was created for long-haul transportation and designed to deliver improved fuel savings to lower the total cost of ownership, while providing traction for driver confidence, the company said.
The product's "ultra-low" rolling resistance levels are designed to exceed SmartWay and CARB requirements, Pierluigi Cumo, B2B vice president of marketing for Michelin North America Inc., said, without disclosing actual comparative numbers.
"Its compact tread design, with less flexibility in the tire tread between the tread surface and tire carcass, provides better energy conservation for greater fuel efficiency."
The Michelin X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold tire is designed to optimize the cost of ownership by reducing rolling resistance, improving mileage performance and providing improved resistance to irregular wear for long tread life, Michelin said.
"With its Regenion evolving-tread design, the Michelin X One Line Energy D2 Pre-Mold tire provides stability in all weather conditions, even when worn, which is critical to long-haul drivers," Cumo said.
