CINCINNATI — Tire Discounters, the nation's largest family-owned and operated tire dealer, continued its steady expansion last year and has added new ventures to its portfolio.
"The Wood family of brands continues to invest in adding new greenfield stores with several currently under construction, continued focus on strategic acquisitions, strengthening our recently added businesses with major investments and a focus on training our team members," Jamie Ward, president and CEO of Tire Discounters, said. "This strategy driven by innovation and new technologies will allow our company to maintain a leading edge in keeping our customers safe on the road."
In 2023, Tire Discounters opened several new stores in Georgia (located in Loganville, Dawsonville, Fayetteville and Kennesaw), one in Alcoa, Tenn., and two in the Cincinnati-area on Fields Ertel and Kings Mill.
In the last two years, Tire Discounters has completed 16 business acquisitions and added 41 stores in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky.
During this time, Tire Discounters also expanded its family of brands to include Butler Tire, a multi-location premium lifestyle tire retailer with plans of expansion; Carriage House Car Wash, a car wash focused on technology and innovation with several locations under construction; and two new Pre-owned Specialty Car dealerships.
Cincinnati-based Tire Discounters was founded by Chip Wood in 1976. In its October report, Tire Business ranked the company as the ninth largest independent tire dealer in North America with 194 company owned retail locations.
"It's an exciting time for Tire Discounters as we look to service more vehicle types, starting with extensive training on safely repairing and maintaining non-ICE vehicles," Ward said. "Over the past few years, we have partnered with more than 40 stores through acquisition and will continue to do so as part of our growth plans with partners who share our values."
The Wood family of brands includes Tire Discounters, Leete Tire, Chip's Auto Glass, Butler Tire, Performance Discounters, Carriage House Car Wash, Paradise Motors and Mudder Trucker.
"We also continue to focus on the automotive glass market and how we can best service Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) vehicles," Ward said. "Demand in the automotive glass market is exploding and our new brand, Chip's Auto Glass, will focus on the safety and innovation of glass and ADAS."
