NORWELL, Mass. — Sullivan Tire & Auto Service has opened one retail location in Massachusetts and has plans to open another in the state later this summer.
That will bring to 73 the number of retail locations for the Norwell, Mass.-based automotive and commercial truck care company, including 45 in Massachusetts.
The new store is a 5,000-sq.-ft. facility in Canton, Mass., previously operated as David's Tire & Auto. Sullivan Tire purchased the assets of the business on June 10. Renovations will occur this summer, but the location will remain open during that time.
Sullivan Tire said that many of the existing David's Tire staff will be retained as Sullivan Tire employees, and more employees will be added.
Meanwhile Sullivan is preparing a location to open later this summer in Reading, Mass., at a former Meineke facility. The 4,354-sq.-ft. location, which includes six bays, is closed for major renovations.
"We are excited about our continued growth in New England," Paul Sullivan, vice president of marketing at Sullivan Tire, said. "Canton and Reading both fit perfectly into our expansion plans, and we are thrilled to serve both of these communities."
Sullivan Tire's retail locations reach into five states. The company also operates 13 wholesale, three retread, two Liftworks and two distribution centers throughout New England.
Sullivan acquired Montvale Tire Car Care Centers, a 50-year-old dealership with stores in the northern Boston suburbs of Melrose and Woburn, Mass. last September.
