PHILADELPHIA — Online tire retailer SimpleTire plans to donate $10,000 to charity:water to fund a clean water project to provide a community in need with safe, reliable drinking water.
Since its founding in 2006, charity:water has funded more than 171,000 water projects in 29 countries, bringing clean water to more than 19 million people.
"We're honored to support charity:water's mission and offer our customers a simple yet impactful way to make a difference," said Kenny Pratt, interim leader of SimpleTire.
SimpleTire said that by purchasing tires, customers can directly contribute to reaching the $10,000 goal to fund a well. A $40 donation provides clean water for one person for life, while a $10,000 donation can build a water project, the charity said.
charity:water, a nonprofit organization, said every public donation funds clean water projects, while overhead costs are covered by private donors and corporate sponsors.
