TAMPA, Fla. — RNR Tire Express netted a record 15,000 submissions for its 7th annual Mother's Day Giveaway of tires and a Jeep Renegade.
In the submissions, husbands, children and partners shared impassioned, heartwarming messages of the sacrifices and tireless devotion displayed by nominated mothers, RNR said.
"And while all of those submitted were entirely deserving of this year's grand prize," RNR said, it selected Shayla Deppen to win the new Jeep Renegade, which was presented to her prior to Mother's Day weekend at the Brandon, Fla., RNR store.
Deppen's husband, Dennis, nominated the Air Force veteran and mother of two, saying: "She's the type of person who was outside right after hurricane Ian helping neighbors pick up debris and sweep. It was her idea for us to go back to my hometown of Englewood to hand out water, Gatorade, and snacks to seniors in a mobile community.
"She's the type of person that takes plastic bags with her on walks to pick up trash because she always tells me, 'This is where we live.' ... I love that she cares so much about serving others, serving her country and being an incredible mother and wife, always putting our needs before her own."
This year, 114 franchise locations across the country participated in the Mother's Day campaign, awarding free sets of tires and accessories to residents of Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
