WINDSOR, Ontario — The Arson Unit of the Windsor Police Service is investigating a possibly suspicious fire at the Serbu Tire store in the city.
Fire was reported at Serbu Tire, in the 1500 block of Howard Avenue in Windsor, about 6:15 a.m. June 23. Firefighters fought the blaze for several hours, and reported it under control around 10:30 a.m.
The Windsor Fire Department estimated the damage as $400,000 to the building and $100,000 to the contents.
The store's front wall and roof collapsed, according to John Lee, chief fire prevention officer with the WFD.
"There was a parapet in front, and it came down, taking the roof with it," Lee said.
Investigators have not yet identified a cause for the fire. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.
