MOUNT JOY, Pa. — McCarthy Tire & Automotive Centers is moving the retail activities at a predominantly commercial sales/service location in Lancaster, Pa., to a purely retail store in Mount Joy, located about 10 miles west of the Lancaster store.

The retail team from the Lancaster store, including retail manager Adam Green, will join forces with the service team at the Mount Joy location, McCarthy Tire said.

McCarthy Tire acquired the Mount Joy store in 2017 as part of its acquisition of six GCR Tires & Service commercial and retail locations from Bridgestone Americas.

The move is effective Feb. 5; all customer records will be transferred the day before the move to ensure a seamless transition, the Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-based dealership said.

"Bringing together these two top-notch teams into one facility will expand our service capabilities for cars, SUVs, and light trucks," McCarthy Tire President John D. McCarthy Jr. said. "We thank our current customers for their business and look forward to welcoming our Lancaster customers at our Mount Joy location."

Jeff Will, manager of separate commercial and retail stores in Mount Joy under GCR since 2003, will continue to oversee all aspects of the automotive operation, McCarthy Tire said. The dealership closed the Mount Joy commercial location last July and moved the personnel from that store to the Lancaster facility to strengthen services for its trucking and agricultural customers.

Mount Joy is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with a population of about 7,500.

Beginning on Feb. 5, the Mount Joy store will give every customer visiting the store a discount card with 10 offers on retail services and tire purchases, valued at up to $150 in savings.

In addition to a range of tire and "expert" mechanical services for consumer vehicles, the Mount Joy store is a certified Pennsylvania state safety and emissions inspection station and offers fleet management services for business vehicles and service fleets.

McCarthy Tire offers retail tire and automotive services at 23 of its 60 locations along the Eastern Seaboard, including six retail-only stores.
