SANTA ANA, Calif. — Ten automotive service businesses — including four retail tire groups —made Entrepreneur magazine's latest list of the top franchise organizations.
The magazine released its 46th annual Franchise 500 list on Jan. 14. The rankings were based on an evaluation of cost and fees, size and growth, support and brand strength.
TBC Corp.'s Midas and Big O Tires franchise businesses claimed No. 1 status in their respective categories — automotive repair/maintenance and wheels/tires.
There are four quick-lube franchise programs in the ranking, led by Valvoline Instant Oil Change, which was ranked No. 24 overall.
The top automotive franchises with their overall rankings were:
- No. 24: Valvoline Instant Oil Change;
- No. 57: Midas;
- No. 84: Jiffy Lube;
- No. 101: Take 5 Oil Change;
- No. 102: Big O Tires;
- No. 127: AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care;
- No. 245: RNR Tire Express;
- No. 302: Precision Tune Auto Care;
- No. 349: Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change;
- No. 486: Tire Pros.
Midas rose more than spots from its 2024 ranking, TBC said, and retained the No. 1 spot in the automotive repair category, a distinction its held nearly 20 years.
"Midas is the strongest it has been in its nearly 70-year history, and we're primed for continued growth," Lenny Valentino Jr., chief operating officer, Midas, said.
"I'm enthusiastic about our future as we continue to invest in the brand, build upon our customer-centric culture, and collaborate with franchise owners, to make Midas the best auto repair and maintenance service franchise opportunity available."
Big O Tires ranked first in the wheels and tires category for the third consecutive year, a distinction TBC chalked up to the access franchisees have to an unparalleled tire distribution and supply chain network.
"I'm proud of the reputation Big O Tires has established over the past 60 years as a brand that customers can depend upon for quality, affordable tires and outstanding automotive services," Gary Skidmore, chief operating officer, Big O Tires, said.
"As a leading automotive repair and tire franchise business, we're dedicated to providing franchisees with ongoing support and resources to help them grow their businesses and deliver excellent service to their customers."
Entrepreneur's editorial team researches and assesses several factors, including costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability, to derive its Top 500 list.
Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500 in ranking order.
