RAVENNA, Ohio — L. Wayne Vanaman, founder of Van's Tire Inc. in Akron, died Aug. 19. He was 79.
He founded Van's Tire in the 1970s by selling tires out of a van, according to his obituary, and grew the business into a multi-location chain in the Akron area.
Preceded in death by his daughter Debbie, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy; sons Wayne (Dillene), Michael (Beverly) and Mark (Brody); daughters Laurie (Dan) LaChappell and Rebecca (Marcus) Barnes; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
