DOVER, Tenn. — Tire industry veteran Gary Brooks Harris died in late August. He was 68.
Harris most recently worked as the national program manager at TireHub L.L.C., retiring in May, 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Harris previously was employed as the vice president of the wholesale division for Universal Tire in Nashville for nearly 20 years. He then become a regional sales manager/program manager for S&S Tire Co. in Nashville in 1998. In 2011, he became an independent tire owner of Rod's Tire Co. in Springfield, Tenn. He joined Bridgestone Americas Inc. in 2015 as national program manager, where he was responsible for the management of the Bridgestone Affiliated Retailer Tier 1program, the Bridgestone Associate Dealer Program and the Toyo Driven Dealer Program.
Harris joined TireHub in 2018. His responsibilities include managing the manufacturer's dealer programs: Bridgestone's Affiliated Retailer Tier 1 Program, Bridgestone's Associate Dealer Program, Goodyear's G3X Program, Toyo's Driven Associate Dealer Program and the TireHub Plus dealer support program.
According to LinkedIn, Harris was involved in creating and developing the American Car Care Centers while with Universal Tire as well as creating and developing the Best-One Dealer program while with S&S Tire. He also was part of the team that introduced the Bridgestone Tire Starz (affiliated retailer tier 1), and he helped develop the Mastercraft Partner Program and Falken dealer program.
He was past president of the Tennessee-Kentucky Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association.
Harris was born in Nashville and was an avid golfer and sportsman, according to his obituary. He recently relocated from Pleasant View, Tenn., to his lake house in the Leatherwood Community of Dover.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Harris, and children, Monika Stuard (Bobby Cordeiro) and son, Gary "BJ" Harris (Ashleigh). Services were held Sept. 2.
