SALADO, Texas — Former T.O. Haas Tire President George Nick Hoellen IV, 70, died March 21 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Hoellen got his start in the automotive industry at a young age working at a filling station in Omaha, Neb. After earning a degree in petroleum marketing, he worked and managed several stores under the Tires Inc. brand before joining T.O. Haas Tire in 1984.
As president of the retail division for over 35 years, Hoellen helped the company grow to 24 locations in three states before it was acquired by Sun Auto Tire & Service in December 2021.
He retired with the sale of the company and was living in Salado with his wife of 50 years, Kathy.
He was president of the Mid America Tire Dealers from 2005-2006 and served on the board of directors for over 15 years.
He also worked closely with AAA and the Lincoln Independent Business Association and promoted chamber of commerce participation throughout the T.O. Haas Tire footprint.
Survivors include his wife Kathy; sons Jay (Jill) and David (Paige); four grandchildren; and sisters Marcia (Joseph) Rodriquez and Kathy (Randy) Taylor.
