MARSHALL, Mo. — David C. Diehm, 86, founder of Diehm's Tire Service in Marshall, died July 30.
Diehm served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He began his tire industry career as a sign installer for Firestone Tire and in 1964 he worked at the local tire store in Marshall, purchasing the business in 1969 and founding Diehm's Tire Service.
Diehm was a member of the Missouri Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association, where he served on its board of directors and as president for two years. He was inducted into the association's hall of fame in 2019.
He also was an active member of the Lion's Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Award for Humanitarian Service and serving as president twice.
Diehm also was an active member of the community, volunteering as a Boy Scout scoutmaster and for Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce, the Trilumina Lodge 205 A.F & A.M. in Marshall and the Malta Bend American Legion Post 558.
Preceded in death by his brothers George and Andrew, Diehm is survived by his wife Carolyn; children Mike Diehm (Lesa) and Karen Maupin (Troy); nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings John Diehm and Margaret George.
