CAMDEN, N.J. — Subaru of America Inc. has selected the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 as the OE fitment on the 2022 Outback Wilderness model, which features additional ground clearance and all-terrain tires for more off-road performance.
This new fitment complements existing fitment contracts that Yokohama Tire Corp. has with Subaru, including current models of the Outback, Legacy, Impreza, WRX STI and Crosstrek, Yokohama said.
The Outback Wilderness features a suspension tuned for improved stability on rough terrain while retaining ride comfort and handling performance on the open road. The front and rear shock absorbers and springs were increased in length to provide more suspension travel with 9.5 inches of ground clearance, Subaru said.
The tire fitment, size 225/65R17, primarily covers the North American market, including Canada, YTC said.
The Outback Wilderness is priced at $36,995 and up. It features Subaru's 2.4-liter turbo Boxer engine, unique exterior and interiors accents and and comes with a full-size spare.
Andrew Zeisser, YTC's vice president of OE sales, said Subaru wanted a tire that "provides improved performance in all types of conditions — from everyday street driving to off-roading in mud and gravel terrains."
The Geolandar A/T G015 is engineered for durability and offers improved traction for SUVs and full-size pick-ups on any surface, in any weather condition, including snow. The tire meets the industry's severe snow service criterion and is stamped with the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol.
