RAYONG, Thailand — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is expanding capacity for tire molds at a dedicated factory in Rayong to help the company keep pace with growing demand throughout the Pacific Rim.
YRC said it expects the expansion at its Yokohama Mold (Thailand) Co. Ltd. subsidiary to be completed by year-end, but it did not disclose the project's scale or investment.
The project is backed by financial support from a Japan External Trade Organization program to strengthen overseas supply chains and promote cooperation between Japan and other ASEAN countries.
Established in 2018, YMTC supplies tire molds used in passenger car tires and light truck tires to Yokohama's tire plants in countries including Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and India.
The expansion in Thailand will supplement production by Yokohama Mold Co. in Omitama City, Japan, and a business partner in China.
