SANTA ANA, Calif. — Yokohama Tire Corp. has designed an all-season tire line for the commercial van sector, the BluEarth-Van All Season RY61, that it claims offers "excellent" durability and "reliable" performance year-round.

The RY61, YTC's first dedicated commercial van product, launches in three C-range sizes — 195/70R15C 104/102T; 195/75R16C 107/105R; and 235/65R16C 121/119R — that cover the most popular van fitments in today's market. Four more sizes will be offered in early 2023.

Drew Dayton, Yokohama's senior product planning manager, consumer tires, said the RY61's "optimum balance" of long treadwear, durability and year-round performance makes it a desirable option for smaller operators as well as larger delivery fleets.

    Highlights of the RY61 include:

    • All-season traction derived from a tread design that features large center tread blocks and 3D snow sipes that augment traction on snow and ice.
    • Long tread life attributed to an "optimized" tread design that features large center blocks and squared shoulder blocks that form a stable footprint, which helps prevent irregular wear.
    • Durable casing construction with added bead reinforcement that helps prevent wear of the bead and carcass in high-load applications, along with anti-crack serration from the geometric cube design on the sidewall.
    • Reduced rolling resistance due to the use of a triple polymer compound.
