DIAMOND BAR, Calif. — The Wheel & Tire Council (WTC) of the Specialty Equipment Market Association is planning a webinar on April 22 covering common causes of tire-balancing process errors and how to avoid them.
The webinar, scheduled to start at 3 p.m. EDT (noon PDT), is open to all interested parties, the WTC said, and should last one hour.
In its preface to the webinar, the WTC calls the process of balancing one of the most important things wheel and tire professionals should know. Unbalanced tire/wheel assemblies can result in vehicle vibration, uneven tire wear and improper weight distribution.
Among those scheduled to speak are Keith Buckley, customer engineering solutions at Goodyear; Kent Hobson, tire/battery center operations at Sam's Club; and Kevin Keefe, vice president, service and sales support at Hennessy Industries L.L.C.
Mike Lusso, sustaining engineering manager at Hennessy Industries, will moderate.
Among the expected topics of discussion are:
- The mechanics of balance vs. unbalance;
- Vibration-inducting factors that can mimic unbalance; and
- Best practices to minimize vibration-related customer complaints, which can be implemented immediately with little to no expense.
Participants will benefit from attending this event live by asking questions and engaging with the presenters during the event in real time.
Registration is open at this link.
The session is the sixth of the "Wheel and Tire Industry Insights, Powered by WTC" SEMA Virtual Education series. Recordings of all previous sessions are available to view on demand at sema.org/virtual-education.
