Wheel Pros buys off-road parts distributor TeraFlex

WEST JORDAN, Utah — Aftermarket wheel producer and distributor Wheel Pros L.L.C. has acquired TeraFlex Inc., a West Jordan-based designer, manufacturer and distributor of off-roading aftermarket suspensions, shocks, and other components.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

According to Wheel Pros, TeraFlex's management team — founder and CEO Mark Falkner, President Benjamin Falkner and Ian Falkner, vice president of organizational development — will remain with the company.

TeraFlex designs, manufactures and distributes aftermarket suspension components, shock absorbers, dampers, steering, axles and other components for the Jeep Wrangler, establishing brands such as Falcon.

Teraflex has 230 employees, operates three U.S. facilities and sells 3,470 distinct product SKUs across 24 core product families, according to Wheel Pros. It distributes products to 1,250-plus dealers and 500-plus customers in 47 states and 35 countries.

Randy White, co-founder and CEO, and Brian Henderson, chief strategy officer at Wheel Pros, said TeraFlex has built an "impressive suite of brands and products in the suspension and shock categories that complement our offerings in lift kits extremely well."

The move comes on the heels of several other Wheel Pros acquisitions over the last 12 months.

Over a two-week period last fall, the company acquired acquired Hoonigan Industries L.L.C. — the company co-founded by extreme rally driver and DC Shoes co-founder Ken Block — and Driven Lighting Group (DLG), an Atlanta-based designer and online retailer of aftermarket automotive lighting products. Executives at both of the acquired companies also were retained by Wheel Pros.

Then in January, Wheel Pros acquired throtl Inc., an aftermarket e-commerce platform for automotive and off-roading enthusiasts.

Founded in 1995 and backed by equity firm Clearlake Capital Group L.P., Wheel Pros said it will continue to expand its suite of aftermarket vehicle enhancements for automotive and off-roading enthusiasts.

Mark Falkner said TeraFlex can "expand on Wheel Pros' existing footprint in the suspension category, and together, provide automotive enthusiasts with access to a larger suite of aftermarket vehicle enhancements. "

Clearlake said the acquisitions expands the "product breadth and distribution footprint" for off-road enthusiasts.
