Wegmann Automotive releases Alligator TPMS sensor

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Wegmann Automotive USA Inc.'s Alligator brand has released the Sens.it RS+ Sensor, which the company said will reduce service costs while saving on storage and logistics.

The device is for use in 99.98% of all vehicle models, the company said, and is a customizable, compatible and cloneable, with dual-frequency for both 315MHz and 433MHz.

The sensors offer functionality on all OEMs and improves battery life by 30% over previous sensor designs, Wegmann said, and are easy to install and to program.

Redon Merdani, Sens.it RS+ project manager at Alligator, said the device is not pre-programmed, so it can be adapted to any vehicle model, reducing the variety of sensors shops need to stock."

"We all know vehicle-specific programming takes time, but universal sensors can be updated again and again, so they don't become obsolete," Merdani said.

Among the benefits of the sensor, according to the company, are:

• Ability to correspond to OE sensors in quality and functionality;
• Reduction of the number of stored parts and associated costs;
• Reduction of risk of installing the wrong sensor;
• Avoidance of sales loss due to non-stocked built-in parts; and
• Programmability both before and after mounting the tires.
