MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. — Vogue Tyre & Rubber Co. is having a "throwback" moment to mark its 105th anniversary with a limited-edition Red Stripe version of its classic whitewall-design tires.
The Red Stripe SKUs — which have red sidewall stripes instead of the firm's signature gold stripe — pay homage to tires Vogue Tyre sold in 1950s that had the company's logo in red over the whitewall, according to Vogue Tyre President Greg Hathcock.
"One hundred and five years in business is something to celebrate. With our legacy of providing the most distinctive tires we wanted to do a special edition tire that tied into our storied heritage," Mr. Hathcock said.
The special models are available in two passenger sizes and tread designs, 235/55R17 and 245/40R20, and one SUV size and tread design, 285/45R22. The 20- and 22-inch models carry XL load ratings.
"Most of the tires have been spoken for by our wholesale partners already, and we expect sell-through to happen very quickly," said Kevin Goyak, executive vice president.
Vogue started a mobile campaign in mid-September to spread the news about the tires to Vogue Tyre "influencers."
