NOVA PRATA, Brazil — Retread materials and equipment supplier Borrachas Vipal S/A has reached a milestone with its Qualified and Guaranteed Retread (QGR) program.
Vipal, through the QGR — which guarantees the first retread of truck and bus tires on casings of what the company identifies as the most popular brands — recently recorded the 6 millionth retread to be covered in the 24 years since the warranty program was launched.
"All retreaded tires go through certified processes according to the regulatory bodies of each location, which aims to ensure the quality of the service," Leandro Paim, Vipal's technical assistance manager, said.
"Vipal's biggest competitive advantage is that the QGR guarantee extends this benefit, also guaranteeing the tire's casing in the first retreading."
Vipal did not share the details of the warranty coverage nor break down by country/region the scope of the QGR program's coverage.
The 16 brands approved by Vipal Rubber in the program are: BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Contintental, Double Coin, Dunlop, Fate, Firestone, General, Goodyear, Hankook, Marshal, Michelin, Pirelli, Sumitomo, Toyo and Yokohama.
Vipal considers itself one of the world's suppliers of retread materials with an installed capacity for tread rubber and associated materials of over 19,000 metric tons a month at four plants — three in Brazil and one in Argentina that opened in late 2020.
Vipal is represented in the U.S. by Doral, Fla-based Vipal Rubber Corp.
