PLEASANT GROVE, Utah — Big O Tires franchisees Steve, Cody and Weston Gray have acquired a retail store in Pleasant Grove formerly operated by Larkin Tire Point S and have converted it to Big O signage.
The new store, a five-bay shop, is the Gray family's second Big O Tires location, joining a store in nearby Provo that Steve Gray acquired in July 2019 after working there for over 20 years.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The newly renovated store is located on State Street, the main thoroughfare through Pleasant Grove, a southern suburb of Salt Lake City with roughly 33,000 inhabitants.
Steve and his wife Cody run the business together, according to Big O Tires L.L.C., with Steve focusing on the front end of the house and Cody on the bookkeeping and accounting side. The Provo store generated $4 million in sales during their first year of ownership, Big O Tires said.
Fueled by this accomplishment, their desire to invest further in the brand, and their son Weston's eagerness to join the family business, the Grays acquired and converted the Pleasant Grove location to the Big O Tires franchise business model. It opened July 1, the second anniversary of the Provo store's opening.
"We have remained open while making renovations and installing new equipment to let customers know we are here to help and, in an effort to show our dedication and commitment to the community," Steve Gray said.
"We have big dreams, but our goal at both locations is and will continue to be to exceed the expectations of our customers, building lasting relationships by providing high-quality products at a great value and performing honest and worry-free tire and auto service," Cody Gray added,
"The community has embraced us with open arms and many customers have even made it a point to mention how excited they are to see Big O Tires come to Pleasant Grove."
The store in Pleasant Grove originally operated as a Fakler Tire location. Jack Larkin bought the store in 2008 and renamed it.
The conversion of the Pleasant Grove store expands the network of Big O stores in Utah to 44.
"The Grays truly exemplify the Big O Tires franchise spirit through their passion and devotion to establishing brand recognition by building trust and delivering exceptional customer service," Jim Bull, vice president and general manager of Big O Tires, said.
"We are very proud of Steve, Cody and Weston and have no doubt their drive paired with their ability to adapt and grow will translate to continued success at both of their locations."
