OTTAWA — Unimax Ltd. President and CEO Bruno Leclair is one of five directors elected to the Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada board during its 78th Annual General Meeting held online April 29.

The AIA, which represents the automotive aftermarket supply and service chain in Canada, also elected Susan Hitchon, business development manager for Automotive Aftermarket E-Learning Centre Ltd., as its first female board chair.

Besides Mr. Leclair, other newly elected directors for the 2020-23 term are: Steve Leal, president and CEO of Fix Network (returning for a three-year term); Shannon Spano, vice president, sales for Wakefield Canada; Ryan Bruno, CFO of CSN Collision Centres; and Bill Hay, president of Bestbuy Distributors Ltd.

The executive committee includes: Ms. Hitchon as chair; Bob Jaworski, president and GM of Auto Electric Service, as vice chair; and Jason Best, senior vice president of sales, Uni-Select, as immediate past chair.

The AIA also presented its Young Professionals in the Aftermarket (YPA) Young Leader of the Year Award to Derek Suen, North American manager – new product development/innovation at Dorman Products Inc.

The Young Leader of the Year Award is presented annually on behalf of the YPA committee to an outstanding young aftermarket professional for his/her dedication to the industry, leadership and innovation.
