Transamerica debuts New Mutant RT Trail, EV tires

MEMPHIS — Transamerica Tire Co. Ltd. is launching a pair of tires it said were engineered for both on- and off-road adventures: The Predator New Mutant RT Trail and the Predator New Mutant RT Trail EV.

According to Transamerica, the tires were designed for motorists who desire versatility, durability and performance.

The New Mutant RT Trail is a hybrid tire that the company said is positioned between the rugged-terrain performance of the New Mutant X-RT and the mud-terrain ability of the New Mutant X-MT. The tire, Transamerica said, offers on-road comfort and off-road capability in diverse road conditions.

A total of 30 sizes are currently available for the Predator New Mutant RT Trail, fitting rim diameters from 17 inches to 22 inches. Fifteen more sizes, including several fitments fitting rim diameters of 24 inches, are under development and will be rolled out over the next two months.

Seven sizes of the Predator New Mutant RT Trail EV tire are available, fitting rim diameters of 20 inches and 22 inches.

Features of the New Mutant RT Trail include:

• Balanced void ratio: Combines X-RT's focus on longevity with the X-MT's self-cleaning traction on conditions including mud, snow and loose surface;

• Deep tread blocks: Enhances grip in wet and wintry conditions, inspired by the X-MT;

• Aggressive shoulder blocks: Provides cornering and biting edges for rocky terrain;

• X tread pattern: Minimizes road noise, identical to X-MT; and

• Dual sidewall design: Provides sidewall options for both style and protection.

The hybrid New Mutant RT Trail EV is built specifically for electric vehicles. Transamerica said the tire features "the rugged-terrain prowess of the X-RT and the mud-terrain expertise of the X-MT," while maximizing efficiency and range for electric vehicles and their owners.

Among the key features are:

• Optimized for electric power: Handles instant torque and regenerative braking, while providing traction and stability on challenging terrain;

• Increased load capacity: Supports heavier EV battery packs without sacrificing safety or performance;

• Reduced rolling resistance: Extends range and reduces charging frequency;

• Quiet ride: Incorporates noise-reducing technology for a serene driving experience, complementing the silence of EVs;

• Advanced tread design: Provides off-road grip and wet/winter performance with aggressive tread blocks and siping; and

• Durable construction: Withstands higher wear rates, extending tire life.
