COSTA MESA, Calif. — Toyo Tire USA Corp. has unveiled the Open Country R/T Pro, a hybrid tire that bridges the gap between the Open Country R/T Trail and M/T.
The new tire is designed to tackle dirt, sand, mud, rocks and snow, Toyo said, noting the tire features an advanced tread design and specially engineered compound to provide traction and performance on challenging terrain.
"We worked directly with off-road enthusiasts and industry experts across the country, to ensure it will meet both our strict targets and our customer's expectations for performance and reliability," Todd Bergeson of Toyo USA said. "The result is an aggressive hybrid M/T tire with outstanding performance that will exceed the expectations of our customers."
Featuring a three-ply sidewall and massive shoulder lugs, the tire offers protection against cuts, chips and impacts, ensuring longer-lasting off-road traction, while providing a comfortable ride home, Toyo said.
The hybrid tire will succeed the Open Country R/T, first introduced by Toyo in 2014.
"Building on the strong reputation of its predecessor, the R/T Pro is an excellent upgrade that features an aggressive tread pattern, including omni-directional-shaped tread blocks, increased void ratio and lateral grooves to provide improved traction in snow and mud," the company said.
"The tire's hybrid design enhances comfort and performance with reduced pattern noise, improved ride quality and confidence-inspiring on-road handling compared to traditional mud tires."
The tire will launch with an initial 50 sizes and load combinations for 17- to 24-inch wheel diameters and up to 42-inch overall diameter.
Popular fitments for this line-up include factory original and heavily modified vehicles from makes such as: Chevrolet, Ford, INEOS, Land Rover, Nissan, Jeep, Ram and Toyota.
The Open Country R/T Pro is backed with a 45,000-mile treadwear warranty and the Toyo Tires No Regrets 45-Day/500-Mile Trial Offer.
