CYPRESS, Calif. — Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has developed a commercial van/light truck version of its Celsius all-weather tire line, the Celsius Cargo, for applications such as local deliveries, services and transportation.
Available in three sizes initially, the Celsius Cargo carries the tire industry's Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol, signifying the tire is designed for use in severe snow conditions.
The all-weather tire features a directional tread design, with the outside half of the tread optimized for all-season performance and the inside half optimized for winter traction, Toyo said.
The all-season portion features a circumferential rib and lower void ratio for maximized wet and dry performance. The winter traction half has zigzag- shaped tread blocks with high sipe density, snow claws and slush grooves to help evacuate snow and ice and maximize cold weather traction.
A durable sidewall provides extra protection against curb damage, and a sturdy casing provides stable handling during frequent stops and starts.
The Celcius Cargo complements Toyo's Celsius and Celsius CUV all-weather tires, which were launched in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
The Celsius Cargo launches in three sizes: 185/60R15C and 235/65R16 for commercial vans and LT275/65R20 for light trucks, including the Ford Transit 150/250/350 and Ford F-250/350 Super Duty. Ten more sizes in 16- to 18-inch rim diameters will be released in September, Toyo said.
The company did not comment on pricing.
