ATLANTA — TireHub L.L.C. donated 70 sets of tires recently to essential workers through its "Helping Hoops" program.
The national tire distributor, cofounded by Bridgestone Americas Inc. and Goodyear in 2018, operates 70 distribution centers in the U.S.
Each these TireHub Logistics Centers partnered with a retailer customer who then chose a customer in their community to surprise with a new set of free tires.
"At TireHub, we say that words matter and they do, but so do actions," TireHub CEO Peter Gibbons said.
"Helping Hoops is a tangible representation of how we bring our mission, vision and promise to life. We are passionate about giving back and providing a safe driving experience, especially for people traveling to work throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
"Partnering with our customers to help those who are helping others has been a truly rewarding experience for the entire Hub team."
Helping Hoops gave the tires to essential workers, including firefighters, teachers, day-care workers, grocery store clerks and nurses, who work on the front lines serving their communities.
In addition to the tires donated by TireHub, many tire dealers also gave customers oil changes and other auto maintenance and services free of charge, the company said.
This is TireHub's second recognition program. The first, Project Joyride, donated tires to customers during the 2019 holiday season.
