AKRON, Ohio — The Tire Society will meet virtually again this year for its annual conference, slated for Aug. 30 to Sept. 3.
The theme for this year's meeting — the group's 40th annual conference — is "The Virtual Tire."
"As was demonstrated last year, the virtual attendees at the conference can expect the same significant content and high quality as has been the norm over the years, with original works on tire technology, a keynote address from an industry leader, plenary lectures of high technical merit, and a vibrant panel discussion," the group said.
The heart of the conference again will be technical papers presented by authors. The group is now calling for paper submissions, and abstracts will be considered through April 30.
Topics include tire performance and vehicle systems, tire materials, tire/road interaction, emerging technology and trends, data science and virtual design.
This year's registration fee will "remain very economical" because the society will not be incurring in-person conference expenses, the group said.
The program will include a plenary lecture from Christian Oertel, professor at TH Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, in Brandenburg, Germany. His presentation is titled "Virtual Tires: Requirements, Fields of Application and Ways of Implementation."
