INDIANAPOLIS — Tire Discounters has opened its second, third and fourth retail outlets in the Indianapolis market and plans to open "at least" three more before year-end, the Cincinnati-based dealership said recently.
The openings in the Indianapolis area are part of Tire Discounters' plan to open 19 stores throughout its six-state coverage area in 12 months, through early 2020.
The stores, all greenfield constructions adhering to Tire Discounters' open-plan layout, opened recently are in College Park, Plainfield and Indianapolis proper.
The new locations on average are staffed with 12 to 15 employees, Tire Discounters said.
The 19 new stores to be opened by early 2020 will expand Tire Discounters footprint to 135 stores in six states by then. Tire Discounters does not disclose its investment in new store construction.
Tire Discounters is offering grand-opening savings on all tires, savings of up to $100 on brake services and 50% off full synthetic oil changes until the end of September at the new stores.
Tire Discounters is not the only mega-dealership targeting Indianapolis. Belle Tire Distributors Inc. of Allen Park, Mich., has opened seven stores in the Indy metro area in the past year and has three others open in central Indiana.
Other major competitors in the area include: Car-X Tire & Auto, 12 stores; Best One of Indy, 10 stores; Discount Tire, 10 stores; Firestone Complete Auto Care, 10 stores; Monro Inc./Tire Barn Warehouse, eight stores; and Tire Central & Service, four stores.
