BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is re-energizing its Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) under the leadership of current TIA President John Evankovich, with former TIA President Dick Gust as chair.
TIA founded the EAC in 2010 under the chairmanship of Mr. Gust, who is president of national account sales for Liberty Tire Recycling, current chair of TIA's Government Affairs Committee and a member of the Tire Industry Hall of Fame.
Several years later, TIA folded the EAC into the Government Affairs Committee but now is reinstating it as a separate entity, the association said.
The EAC's purpose is to create a council of industry experts from various disciplines to provide strategic information, advisory services, educational programs and government assistance that promote environmental awareness, economic viability and sustainable best practices for every aspect of the tire and rubber industry, TIA said.
Messrs. Gust and Evankovich will seek to expand the EAC's educational programs and renew its leadership role in environmental and sustainability issues, the association said.
Besides Messrs. Gust and Evankovich, the members of the reactivated EAC are:
- Monti Niemi, First State Tire Recycling;
- Charlie Astafan, CM Shredders;
- Farella March, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality;
- Debra Hamlin, Bridgestone Americas;
- Mary Sikora, Scrap Tire News/Recycling Research; and
- Roy Littlefield IV, TIA director of government affairs.
