BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is offering in-person Certified Instructor Automotive Tire Service (ATS) classes in three cities this year.
The sessions are from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3 in Baltimore, Nov. 16-19 in Los Angeles and dates to be determined in Charlotte.
The 400-level certification program provides instruction on the recommended procedures for servicing automobile and light truck tires, TIA said.
Subjects include the relationship between torque and clamping force and tire pressure monitoring systems relearn procedures on domestic and import vehicles.
"The Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Certified Instructor Training Tour is returning with the continued emphasis on hands-on instruction and demonstration," Kevin Rohlwing, senior vice president of training for TIA, said.
"Certified ATS is definitely a hands-on program where the instructors and technicians must demonstrate the necessary skills to service passenger and light truck tires."
The four-day class includes an exclusive module on tire conditions analysis that will help technicians identify reasons for irregular wear.
